A Collection of resources for fans and collectors of Sierra On-Line and Sierra Entertainment
About Sierra On-Line
I am a great fan of Sierra On-Line and I encourage you to read about my story and my favorite games over at my Sierra page at davesite.com.
This site is more of a general fan resource that will point them in many directions, sort of an informational site. As you are probably aware, Wikipedia, which I respect very much, is supposed to be totally unbiased,
so important content and commentary are excluded frequently... I'd like this site to have a little more personal flavor, while being useful to the majority of visitors.
Sierra was founded by Ken and Roberta Williams in 1979 as On-Line Systems. As you are certainly aware, Sierra over the years put out some of the greatest and most creative games in
the entertainment software industry. Sierra as a development company was ended in 2004 (also see 2001 layoff article) and now Sierra is a publisher for games produced by other companies (including the popular games Half Life and F.E.A.R. which carry the Sierra label). Originally Sierra produced mostly for computers, but now as a publisher under Vivendi Universal, its games are often available for consoles such as Playstation and Xbox.
You can view the Wikipedia article on Sierra for an in-depth coverage of the history of Sierra as well as many of their games.
Incredible Important Resources
- sierra.com - This is the official site for Sierra Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Universal.
- sierragamers.com - This is a forum BBS set up by Ken Williams visited by thousands of fans. You can talk about anything Sierra-related with other members and even ask Ken questions directly. Great way to keep in touch.
- eBay.com - This is unfortunately where you'll have to go to get most classic games.
- GameTap.com - GameTap is game download service with a $9.95 monthly subscription fee. They've got hundreds of games, including many of the Quest for Glory games and King's Quest games. If you want to try out some great Sierra games, check out their two-week trial... works great on Windows XP.
More Great Resources
These sites are not listed in any specific order.

Creating Games & Fan Games
- The Silver Lining - formerly known as King's Quest IX: Every Cloak Has a Silver Lining (KQIX). Fan game that had a lot of press recently. Basically, Vivendi said "stop making it" then petitions came in, and Vivendi is now excited to see the project completed! More info in this article.
- AGD Interactive - remakes of some early Sierra titles, including King's Quest 1, into VGA (meaning better graphics).
- Hero6 - has some inspiration from the Quest for Glory series.
- sq7.org - Space Quest fan game.
- The Ultimate AGI & SCI Web Site - most classic Sierra games were created with AGI or SCI. Information on fan-made games and how to create your own Sierra-like game.
